But don’t fret, the independent worlds festival has neither gone bankrupt, nor has the power supply been cut. With a little less than two weeks to go before the festivities get underway, we are finally ready to unveil the festival cinema and street theater’s itineraries. Oh, and one more important thing – the fest’s tent field will, for the very first time, come fully equipped with showers to boot.
The Festival Cinema will be operating in the Przedwiosnie cinema located in the Old Town on 5 Tumska Street. The cinema, which has recently been refurbished, will be screening films from the catalogue of the largest distributor of artistic cinema in Poland, Gutek Film.
Audioriver will not only be showing two very well received biographic films about legendary musicians, namely, ‘Control’ and ‘Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten’, but also ‘Irmina Palm’ starring none other than the famous singer Marianne Faithfull. But that’s not all. Seeing as how the cast is absolutely mind blowing, we will also be hosting a premier screening of Wim Wender’s ‘The Palermo Shooting’ starring Campino (Die Toten Hosen’s frontman), Lou Reed and Patti Smith! And last but certainly not least, we have also incorporated ‘Exils’ with its stunning soundtrack into the Festival Theater’s official program.
It’s pretty obvious why we selected music–oriented films, and Gutek Film was the best choice for such movies. So, in the end, as was the case with the line up for the beach, the highest quality was our criteria for the selection of films. Also, we wanted for everyone, not just the festival goers but also the residents of Plock that don’t have a clue who Richie Hawtin is, to find something for themselves at the cinema.
Quality also drove the choices for the street theater performances. On the Saturday in the Old Market Square, a very special performance of ‘Cadillac’ by the Usta Usta Theater Group is set to take place. The spectacle, which is a theatrical protest against the world of television and commercial media outlets, will fit in perfectly with the independent ideals to be found at Audioriver’s foundations.
On the Sunday, on the other hand, the theatrical group Wiatrak will be taking over the Old Market Square with their performance of ‘Pragnienie’, a play about the desires hidden deep within us all.
The price of a ticket to the cinema will be 5 zl for those with bands from the beach, and 10 zl for those without a band nor a ticket for Audioriver. The street theater performances will be free.
And finally, as was mentioned at the beginning, a tent field with showers and toilets will be available to all festival goers. The field, which will be guarded and secured, will cost no more than a symbolic 10 zl per person for the duration of the stay, not per day.
Remember, two-day tickets for the festival can still be purchased for 70 zl until August 1st. After that, the price rise to 100 zl.
